I am the tough bark of a redwood tree,
standing proudly in Muir Woods.
I am the gentle yellow petals of a lily,
dreaming in a garden.
I am the clouds,
sending turquoise tears down to earth.
I am the sun
always arriving on time
to light up the sky.
I am the gleaming eyes of a mountain lion
chasing down her prey.
I am the frightened eyes of the deer.
I am the crisp orange leaves of a sleeping tree
slowly letting go
to blow lonely in the wind.
I am the roots of a tree
holding strong to earth
Cracking city concrete.
I am earth,
strong
and
fragile.
